STRATFORD – www.visitStratford.ca
Few places
in Ontario are lovelier or more alive with culture and character than Stratford. It is a charming Victorian city
nestled in pastoral countryside a few short hours from Toronto – a destination internationally renowned as one of
North America’s great arts towns.
The city
has vibrant creative culture, expressed by its famous theatre company, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, celebrated in music, the innovative
cuisine of its restaurants and a garden city landscaped with well-conserved
Victorian architecture.
Shakespear Quote:
Twelfth Night (II, v, 156-159)
"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon
'em."
NEW
HAMBURG – www.newhamburg.ca
The Township of
Wilmot is a small urban/rural municipality in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario and includes the towns of New
Hamburg and Baden.
New Hamburg is a town that celebrates its heritage – and a
community where visitors can rediscover the rural roots of Ontario. In the heart of the downtown – a Heritage
Conservation District with many interesting, original buildings – the Heritage Water Wheel turns on the far bank of
the river. This is the largest operating water wheel in North America; it is a symbol of the importance of the Nith
River, and of the water-powered mills which were the first industries in pioneer New Hamburg. One mill continues as
a viable business in the Heritage Conservation District.
The National Historic Site of Castle Kilbride, located at 60
Snyder’s Road West, Baden, stands as a monument to heritage and tradition and has been restored and refurnished
with scrupulous attention to detail.
LOGO – Drawing from this Stratford heritage
& New Hamburg rural legacy, our 2012 Championships logo includes William Shakespeare and grain stalks and was
designed by Chyrille Lehman (better known as Chevy). Reliance Printing (Paul & Chyrille Lehman) from Hanover, Ontario will be producing the
tournament program. Resemblance of William Shakespeare and a certain 2012 Nationals Committe member, well
known in the Elite circle, is purely coincidental.
OUR HOST
COMMITTEE – Our host committee members represent an active cross section of broomball within our Central
West Region of Ontario Broomball. They include representatives from Elite, Intermediate, Masters, & Junior
teams as players and/or coaches and call on the expertise of Ontario, Regional, and Junior executives, embracing
hundreds of years of broomball experience and tournament hosting expertise.
Central West Adult
Leagues include Blyth, Harriston, Palmerston (Men’s only), & Seaforth, with independent teams from Cargill
& Kilsyth. Junior Broomball is
active in Blyth, Mildmay, Palmerston, Seaforth & Kilsyth.
HOST
TEAMS – Both the Men’s Host, Snipers, and Ladies’ Host, Polar Ice participate in the Seaforth League.
VOLUNTEERS – An event of this size is not
possible without the help of many volunteers working hard to organize and manage this event. If you are interested
in volunteering to help with the 2012 Senior Nationals, please fill in the volunteer questionnaire and send to
Janet Buchanan.
